Texas Rangers Select Gonzaga Outfielder Royce Bolinger
A native of Scottsdale, AZ, the right-handed Bolinger spent four years patrolling the outfield for the Bulldogs, increasing his batting average each season, including a .392 mark his senior year. The performance, which also included 11 home runs and 51 RBI, led to Bolinger's selection as an All-West Coast Conference first-team player.
"I think he's still getting better and he's got a work ethic that's second to none," said Gonzaga head coach Mark Machtolf. "I think he'll have a good chance; he's a good prospect."
The Texas Rangers will begin to assign players to Spokane in the next few days, with the players due to report to Spokane at the beginning of next week. In addition to players from this year's draft, the Indians roster will also be comprised of international signings, players from other teams in the Rangers' farm system, and players from extended spring training in Arizona.
