Mike Rayl (3-6) was hit for five runs on eight hits in his five innings of work.
Trailing 5-0 in the last of the ninth, Justin Toole broke up the shutout with a two-run triple down the right field line. The play snapped a 19-inning scoreless streak dating to Sunday for Carolina.
Wilmington took the lead in the second inning on a bases-loaded sacrifice fly to right by Kevin David, but a four-run fourth put the game away.
After Roman Hernandez and Kevin David singled to begin the barrage, Alex McClure made it 2-0 with a single. Whit Merrifield sent a fly ball to deep left that was lost in the lights. Two runs scored on the triple by Merrifield, and the Blue Rocks led 4-0. Geulin Beltre brought home the fourth run of the inning on a bouncing single to center.
