Bray to Pitch for Dragons Saturday, Monday

June 8, 2012
Dayton, Ohio-Cincinnati Reds left-handed relief pitcher Bill Bray is schedule to throw one inning for the Dayton Dragons on Saturday, June 9 and another inning on Monday, June 11. Both games are at Fifth Third Field in Dayton. Bray will be with the Dragons on a major league injury rehabilitation assignment.

Bray, one of the top lefty relievers in the National League in 2011, pitched in five games with the Reds this season in April and made one rehab appearance with Triple-A Louisville on April 29. He has not pitched in an official game since that date due to a strained left groin and back soreness.

Bray tied for second in the National League in appearances with the Reds in 2011, pitching in 79 games. He posted a record of 5-3 with a 2.98 earned run average. Bray has pitched in 249 major league games since his big league debut with the Washington Nationals in 2006. He was acquired by the Reds on July 13, 2006 in an eight-player trade.

Bray will become the second major league player to play for the Dragons this season on an injury rehabilitation assignment. Infielder Miguel Cairo was the first.

The Dragons host the Lake County Captains tonight at 7:05 p.m. They will host the Bowling Green Hot Rods in a three-game series starting Saturday at 7:05 p.m. and continuing Sunday at 2:00 p.m. and Monday at 7:00 p.m. For information on lawn tickets and group seating options, call (937) 228-2287.
