2012 All-Star Rosters Announced
The Carolina League All-Stars will play under the watch of the Winston-Salem Dash's coaching staff. First-year skipper Tommy Thompson will be the team's manager. Pitching coach J.R. Perdew, hitting coach Gary Ward and trainer Cory Barton will join Thompson. Lake Elsinore's coaching staff, led by hitting coach David Newhan, will represent the California League.
All eight Carolina League clubs and 10 California League teams have at least one representative. Four squads-Bakersfield, High Desert, Lake Elsinore and Lynchburg-have a game-high five All-Stars.
This is the 16th California-Carolina League All-Star Game, and the California League leads the all-time series 8-7. The Carolina League has not won since 2008.
BB&T Ballpark will host the Midsummer Classic for the first time. This is the seventh All-Star Game in Winston-Salem history, the most recent coming back in 1993.
Gates open at 3:30 p.m. for batting practice for both leagues. At 6 p.m., select All-Stars will take part in the 2012 Home Run Derby, sponsored by United Airlines. First pitch for the California-Carolina League All-Star Game is set for 7:15 p.m.
The Carolina League roster is available on page two of this press release, while the California League roster can be found on page three.
A limited number of tickets are still available for the 2012 California-Carolina League All-Star Game. For more information or to purchase your seats, visit wsdash.com or call the Dash at (336) 714-2287.
For fans who cannot make it to BB&T Ballpark, audio coverage begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday on wsdash.com. Dash broadcasters Brian Boesch and Mike Lefko will chat with 2012 All-Stars, update the Home Run Derby and call the All-Star Game.
