Irving Falu Named Pacific Coast League Player of the Week
PAPILLION, Neb. - Irving Falu's memorable 2012 season has just gotten a bit more exciting as the Pacific Coast League announced on Monday that the fan favorite has been named the PCL's Player of the Week for June 4-10. He is the first Omaha pitcher or position player to be named as the Player of the Week this season.
Falu, who as of June 11 has a 13 game hitting streak, batted an impressive .526 (10-for-19) with nine runs batted in. Falu found his power stroke as well, connecting for two home runs during the six-game stretch which was the same amount of long balls he hit in all of 2011.
In addition to Player of the Week honors, Falu, who had spent the previous three seasons in Omaha, made his Major League debut this season. In his 12 games with Kansas City, Falu posted a .326 average (14-for-43) with seven runs scored, three doubles, a triple and an RBI.
The Omaha Storm Chasers return home for a four-game series against the Memphis Redbirds, the Triple-A affiliate of the 2011 World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals, from June 19-22.
