Orbit Wins Mascot Mania!

June 19, 2012

After nearly a month and hundreds of thousands of votes, the Albuquerque Isotopes' mascot Orbit has won Minor League Baseball's Mascot Mania contest as the best mascot in all of Minor League baseball. Orbit easily dispatched Ike the Spike of the short-season State College Spikes in the finals to earn the title.

In addition to bragging rights, Orbit will now get a special award from Minor League Baseball that will be presented to him before a game to be determined in August that will also serve as a celebration of the best mascot in baseball.

"Wow, I'm stunned, honored, and humbled to earn this amazing honor," said an emotional Orbit when he heard the news. "Thanks to all the many Isotopes fans for their support. I share this accolade with them and I hope to see them all at Isotopes Park very soon so I can thank each and every one of them with a big hug!"

Throughout the NCAA Basketball-type tournament, Orbit beat Homer (Billings Mustangs), Cosmo (Las Vegas 51s), Thunder (Lake Elsinore Storm), Spike (Round Rock Express), Snappy D. Turtle (Beloit Snappers), and Ike the Spike.
