Colonel Named AA All-Star

January 11, 2008
Christian Colonel was a leader both on the field and off this year for the Tulsa Drillers, and on Tuesday he was recognized for his fine season when he was named to the Topps 2007 Double A All-Star Team. Colonel was selected as the designated hitter on the prospect-filled team.

Colonel compiled solid numbers for the Drillers in nearly every offensive category. Playing predominantly at third base, he hit .309 with a career high 17 homers and 84 runs batted in. He led all Texas League players with 163 hits and 47 doubles.

Colonel was joined on the elite 12-player AA team by four members of the Montgomery Biscuits, an affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays.

Other Texas League players on the roster were Frisco second baseman German Duran and Springfield outfielder Colby Rasmus.
