Naturals Introduce Team Doctors

The Northwest Arkansas Naturals announced Thursday that Dr. Chris Daugherty and Dr. John Dougherty, D.O. FAOASM, both from Agility Center Sports Medicine in Bentonville, have been named by the Kansas City Royals as the team physicians for the Northwest Arkansas Naturals.

Dr Chris Dougherty received his medical degree from the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, MO. After completing an orthopedic surgery residency in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he received his Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Kentucky Sports Medicine clinic. Board Certified in orthopedic surgery, he specializes in sports surgeries. Dr Dougherty is a leader in arthroscopic surgery and has taught several orthopedic surgeons nationally and internationally. He is also recognized as an authority in core strength and injury prevention, and has developed injury reduction and performance enhancing rehabilitation techniques. Dr. Dougherty has treated patients ranging from grade school children to professional athletes. His research includes working on a device for collarbone fractures that allows for a quicker recovery time. Chris has a passion for baseball which ranges from treating the athletes to helping coach little league.

After receiving his Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine from the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, Dr. John Dougherty completed his residency at the University of North Texas - Health Science Center in Fort Worth, TX. He later completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine with the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. John has been in private practice since 1995, and is board certified in Family Practice and Sports Medicine. In 2006, Dr. Dougherty was recognized as a leader in Sports Medicine, and was awarded as Fellow of the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine. His experience working with baseball players includes the high school and collegiate levels, as well as USA Baseball. The focus of his practice is in biomechanics as it relates to all aspects of joint and back pain, as well as issues in athletics and injury prevention.

A lifelong baseball fan originally from the St. Louis area, John and his wife Sara, along with their four boys, have lived in Southwest Missouri for the past fifteen years.
