Smokies to wear special holiday caps

July 3, 2012

The Tennessee Smokies, along with many other teams in Minor League Baseball™ (MiLB) will wear caps with the American flag etched into their logo throughout the Independence Day holiday. The Smokies will wear the special caps during their July 3rd game in Chattanooga and July 4th game at Smokies Park.

The specialty caps are royal blue with a front panel that features the American flag design etched into each team's logo. The caps will be available for purchase in the stadiums of participating clubs, as well as on some clubs' web sites.

The Smokies, other MiLB clubs and Major League Baseball Properties Inc., Minor League Baseball's licensing agent, have agreed to donate all royalties from the sales of these caps to Welcome Back Veterans, a program which addresses the needs of returning American Veterans and their families. New Era Cap Co., which produced the caps, is also contributing a portion of the sales to the organization.
