Lindy Ruff joins HR Derby

Sabres coach to take part in celebrity event

Buffalo Sabres Head Coach LINDY RUFF has been added to the lineup for the Celebrity Home Run Derby on Monday, July 9 at Coca-Cola Field (7:00 p.m.), presented by Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel.

The Bisons also announced that there are only 2,500 tickets remaining for Monday's Home Run Derby. There are only 2,000 tickets left for Wednesday's Triple-A All-Star Game, presented by the New Era Cap Company and The Buffalo News. Tickets to both events can be purchased at Bisons.com or by calling THE-HERD at 843-4373.

The Celebrity Home Run Derby will take place in-between rounds of the Triple-A All-Star Home Run Derby that includes Buffalo Bisons OF Valentino Pascucci. Gates to Coca-Cola Field open at 5:00 p.m. and tickets are available for just $15 at the Coca-Cola Field Box Office, Bisons.com or by calling THE-HERD at (716) 843-4373.

Ruff is the longest tenured head coach in the National Hockey League and will be entering his 15th season behind the bench with the Sabres in 2012. He has a career record of 565-422-78-83 for Buffalo and led the team to the 1998-99 Stanley Cup Finals. He was named NHL Coach of the Year (Jack Adams Award) in 2005-2006, and a season later, guided the Sabres to a league-best 113 points for the President's Trophy.

Ruff also played 12 seasons in the NHL with the Sabres and the New York Rangers. He had 105 goals, 300 points and 1,264 penalty minutes in 691 career NHL games.

Ruff will be joining Patrick Kaleta, Jim Kelly, Fred Jackson, Russ Brandon, Joe DeLamielleure, Rob Gronkowski, Bill Polian and Nick Bakay in tomorrow's Celebrity Home Run Derby.
