Former Indian Ian Kinsler to Compete in Tonight's MLB All-Star Game

July 10, 2012
Spokane, WA - Texas Rangers second baseman and leadoff hitter Ian Kinsler, a member of the 2003 NWL Champion Spokane Indians, will compete in tonight's Major League Baseball All-Star Game on FOX. Coverage for the game starts at 2:00 p.m. with first pitch slated for 4:30 p.m.

Kinsler is one of eight Rangers selected to this year's Midsummer Classic along with Josh Hamilton, Mike Napoli, Adrian Beltre, Yu Darvish, Elvis Andrus, Matt Harrison, and Joe Nathan-three more than any team in either league. Texas currently owns the second best record in baseball at 52-34 and has a four-game lead over the Los Angeles Angels in the A.L. West.

A major part of the Rangers' success is tied to Kinsler, who leads the American League in runs and is fifth in hits and seventh in stolen bases. This marks the third All-Star appearance for Kinsler, who was also selected in 2008 and 2010.

The Indians plan to recognize Kinsler's achievements with the Ian Kinsler Bobblehead Giveaway presented by Alaska Airlines, KREM 2-TV, 103.1 KCDA, and Out There Monthly on Friday, July 27th against the Yakima Bears. Tickets for that game are available by calling (509) 343-OTTO (6886) or online at spokaneindians.com.

The Indians return to Avista Stadium for eight straight games starting on Wednesday, July 11th for $100 Strikeout Night presented by Banner Bank & Rock 94 1/2. For every batter that the Indians strikeout, one lucky fan will win a crisp $100 bill. Sign up at the game for your chance to win! The game starts at 6:30 p.m. with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. Tickets for all Spokane Indians home games are available for purchase at the Indians Ticket Office or at spokaneindians.com. Reserve your seats today by calling (509) 343-OTTO (6886) or TicketsWest at 1-800-325-SEAT.
