NFL Star Brian Orakpo to Make Dell Diamond Appearance

Former University of Texas All-American to hold July 12 meet-and-greet

ROUND ROCK, Texas – Former University of Texas All-American and current Washington Redskins All-Pro linebacker Brian Orakpo will hold a meet-and-greet Thursday at The Dell Diamond as the Round Rock Express host the Memphis Redbirds for a 7:05 p.m. CDT game. The event is presented by Austin Diamond District.

Orakpo will throw the ceremonial first pitch prior to Thursday’s game before his meet-and-greet with fans in the United Heritage Conference Center from 7 p.m. through the second inning. He also will have a meet-and-greet in the Intel Club for suite holders and Intel Club members during the fourth through seventh innings. Austin Diamond District will have a complimentary jewelry cleaning session in the Intel Club during that time.

A unanimous All-America selection as a defensive lineman at Texas in 2008, Orakpo won the Bronko Nagurski Trophy (best defensive player) and Lombardi Award (best lineman or linebacker). Washington made him the 13th overall selection in the 2009 NFL Draft and moved him to linebacker. After being named to the NFL All-Rookie Team in 2009, Orakpo played in the 2010 and 2011 Pro Bowls and was an alternate for the 2012 Pro Bowl. He is a product of Houston’ Lamar High School.

Round Rock hosts the Memphis Redbirds for a four-game series this weekend at The Dell Diamond. The teams also meet Friday at 7:05 p.m., Saturday at 6:05 p.m. and Sunday at 7:05 p.m.
