Martin, a 2007 National League All-Star Catcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, was a member of the 51s during the 2006 season. He appeared in 23 games and batted .297 (22-for-74) with 9 doubles and 9 RBI.
Russell has developed into one of the top receivers in the game, earning All-Star honors for the first time while leading the team in RBI (87). In 2007, he appeared in 151 games for the Dodgers and batted .293 (158-for-540) with 32 doubles and 19 home runs.
He was awarded the annual Roy Campanella Award as the "Most Inspirational Dodger," which is voted upon by his teammates and coaches. He was also honored with the Dodgers' Heart & Hustle Award, which is chosen by the MLB Players Alumni Association. He led all National catchers in hits, homers, runs scored (87), stolen bases (21), batting average, on-base percentage (.380) and slugging percentage (.477).
His 21 stolen bases led all Major League catchers and set the single-season Dodger franchise record by a catcher. He became the first big league catcher to hit 15 homers and steal 20 bases in a season since Ivan Rodriguez in 1999. He led all Major League catchers with 145 games played and 1,254 innings caught.
