Carasiti brilliant in Rockies win over Missoula

On Friday night in Missoula, Matt Carasiti picked up his first win with six scoreless innings, he bested that outing Thurday night at Suplizio Field, throwing seven scoreless innings, picking up his second in a 3-0 Grand Junction Rockies win over the Missoula Osprey.

After Missoula went scoreless in their half of the first, the Rockies came back to take an early lead when Jeff Popick singled home David Dahl with 2-out to give the Rockies a 1-0 lead. The single extended Popick's hit streak to eight games.

Ben Waldrip homered in the second inning, his sixth of the year, to make it a 2-0 game, and in the fourth, the made it a 3-0 game with an unearned run.

Missoula got on the board with a run in the 8th, but left the tying run on base when Scott Oberg struck out Evan Marzilli.

Oberg ran into trouble in the ninth, but got a strike out of Rudy Flores to end the game with the tying run on base to pick up his fifth save of the season.

The Rockies and Osprey will play game two of their four game series Friday night at Suplizio Field. First pitch is set for 7:05. Colorado Rockies first baseman Todd Helton will be in uniform for the Rockies in the first game of a two game rehab stint.
