Bees Fall 6-4 in Iannetta's Return

July 22, 2012
Fresno scored four runs in the second inning to take the lead and then held on, as the Grizzlies downed the Salt Lake Bees 6-4 on Saturday night. Fresno jumped in front on a sacrifice fly by Jackson Williams, an RBI triple by Ryan Hollis, a wild pitch and an RBI single by Brock Bond. The Bees got back to within one run, as they scored twice in the fifth and Paul McAnulty led off the sixth with his 15th home run of the season. After the Grizzlies went up 5-3 in the seventh, the Bees pulled back to within one in the eighth on a run scoring single by Luis Jimenez, but that was as close as they would get, as Fresno added an insurance run in the ninth.

Bees' starter Eddie McKiernan (5-3) took the loss, as he went five and two-third innings and allowed four runs on six hits. Ryan Langerhans had two hits, including a triple, to lead the Bees. Angels outfielder Vernon Wells went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases in the second game of his rehab assignment, while catcher Chris Iannetta went 1-for-3 in his first rehab game.

"Our guys have been battling," stated Keith Johnson, Bees Manager. "Our guys are going to fight until the end and tonight we had a couple opportunities where we didn't get it done. Our hearts are in the right place and this is one of those losses you can stomach a little more because of how hard we fought. (Fresno) just beat us tonight."
