Dave Matthews, Willie Nelson headed to Memphis

Concert on Aug. 2 will be third in ballpark's history
March 6, 2008
Memphis, Tenn. -- AutoZone Park will host Dave Matthews Band on Saturday, August 2 with Willie Nelson making his return to the park as the opening act.

Dave Matthews Band has been nominated for 12 Grammy Awards and won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal in 1997. The band has released 17 albums, including their latest Live at Piedmont Park, since their inception in 1991.

Nelson makes his return to AutoZone Park after playing with Bob Dylan at a concert in July 2005. The music legend has been producing music since 1962.

"This is another great opportunity for us to showcase AutoZone Park as a great venue for outdoor concerts," Redbirds President/GM Dave Chase said. "It has long been our desire to host one or two concerts each year at AZP. Dave Matthews Band and Willie Nelson will help us keep the park top of mind for future promoters, plus we benefit our RBI and STRIPES programs."

The concert, presented by Jam Productions, will mark the third on-field concert AutoZone Park has hosted. The ballpark held its first on-field concert in 2005 when Dylan and Nelson performed. Later in the year, Voodoo Music Experience came to the park after being displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

Tickets will go on sale to the public on Saturday, March 29 at 10 a.m. Redbirds season ticket holders will have the opportunity to purchase tickets from March 10-21. General Admission (on field) and lower level reserved seating will be $65 and club level tickets will be $55. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. for the event.
