Williams to visit Lakewood

March 12, 2008
LAKEWOOD, N.J. -- Former Phillies pitcher Mitch Williams will be on hand at FirstEnergy Park on April 4 to promote his new line of salsas, Wild Thing Salsa. Williams will sign autographs and meet fans in the ClawsCove throughout the BlueClaws game against Lake County, which begins at 7:05 pm.

Williams spent 11 years in Major League Baseball, including three seasons with the Phillies, helping Philadelphia to the 1993 National League pennant. Williams racked up 45 wins and 192 saves in his career while playing for six different teams.

Over the last year, in addition to developing his line of salsa, Williams has served as a post-game analyst during Phillies broadcasts.

"Mitch Williams is one of the most memorable players in recent Phillies history," BlueClaws General Manager Geoff Brown said. "We are very excited about his trip to the ballpark and are very thankful that he is taking the time to spend a game with our fans."

The BlueClaws will be selling Wild Thing Salsa all season long in the ClawCove store. Lakewood will be the only baseball team other than the Phillies to offer Wild Thing Salsa. It is also available online at www.WildThingSalsa.com.

In addition to Williams' appearance, the April 4th game will feature post-game fireworks presented by Toyota World of Lakewood.

Tickets to the game are still available, but are going fast. Ticket packages, groups, and single game tickets are now on sale for every BlueClaws game, in person at the FirstEnergy Park box office, online, and over the phone. For tickets or more information call 732-901-7000 or visit the BlueClaws website at www.BlueClaws.com.
