Uncle Slam in Mascot Madness

March 17, 2008
The Potomac Nationals mascot Uncle Slam will be participating in the inaugural Mascot Madness 2008 scheduled to take place on Tuesday, March 18th at Georgetown Prep. The event will be televised live on the Fox 5 Morning Show telecast from 5:30 to 9:30 a.m.

Uncle Slam will join many of the mascots from the local college schools and professional teams in the area participating in the competition. All of the mascots will be paired in a single elimination, tournament style bracket, similar to the NCAA College Basketball Tournament format. In each contest, two mascots will play one-on-one basketball and the first to score wins. In addition, no formal rules will be enforced during the game meaning tackling, tripping and bumping are legal. By the end of the telecast, a champion mascot will be crowned.

Uncle Slam has been the Potomac Nationals mascot since 2005. The event is open to the public should anyone want to attend.
