Heller named league's top trainer

Mudcats staffer voted Carolina League Trainer of the Year

ZEBULON, N.C. -- Carolina Mudcats athletic trainer Jeremy Heller was named the Carolina League Athletic Trainer of the Year by the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainer Society. The honor makes Heller eligible for the PBATS Minor League Athletic Trainer of the Year award.

"I am truly humbled and honored to receive the Carolina League Athletic Trainer of the Year award. Any time you are given something like this, that is voted on by your peers it's very exciting," Heller said. "I would like to thank my fellow athletic trainers for believing that I am deserving of the award, and the Cleveland Indians for giving me the opportunity to work in a great organization, and helping to develop me as a person, professional and athletic trainer."

"I also want to thank the Mudcats and their staff, as well as Dr. [Mark] Galland and our medical staff here in Carolina. Last, but not least, I would to thank my wife Beth for her constant support throughout my career," Heller added.

Heller, who lives in Lakewood, Ohio, is in his eighth season as a Minor League athletic trainer, and is currently serving his third season with the Cleveland Indians' Class A (Advanced) affiliate. The Red Bud, Ill., native is a graduate of Millikin University, and did post-graduate study at Tennessee Technological University.
