Zach Duke became the first 12-game winner in the International League after fanning eight and giving up three runs on five hits over six innings as Syracuse topped Buffalo, 5-4, in Game 1. Eury Perez was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI while Carlos Rivero singled home a run for the Chiefs. Zack Wheeler allowed two runs on three hits over 4 2/3 innings in his Triple-A debut and veteran Lucas Duda homered in the loss for the Bisons.
Greg Golson's RBI single in the eighth inning was the only run of the game as Charlotte blanked Indianapolis, 1-0. Jared Mitchell doubled and scored while Dylan Axelrod allowed three hits over six shutout innings for the Knights. Chris Leroux gave up one hit and fanned five over seven scoreless frames for the Indians.
Lance Pendleton improved to 7-4 after surrendering one run on three hits while striking out seven as Durham defeated Columbus, 4-1. Brooks Conrad slugged a two-run homer and Tim Beckham, the Rays' No. 5 prospect, was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Cord Phelps went yard for the Clippers.
Zach Stewart collected his third win, yielding three hits over five shutout innings as Pawtucket routed Lehigh Valley, 7-1. Shortstop Jose Iglesias had three hits and scored twice while Juan Carlos Linares had two RBIs for the Red Sox. Cesar Hernandez was 2-for-3 with a run scored for the IronPigs.
L.J. Hoes reached base three times and scored three runs to help lead Norfolk past Gwinnett, 7-4. Jamie Hoffman slugged a two-run homer and Dana Eveland earned his fourth win after allowing two unearned runs over six innings for the Tides. Randall Delgado struck out seven batters over 5 2/3 innings and took the loss for the Braves.
Brandon Laird was 3-for-5 with a homer and four RBIs as Scranton/Wilkes-Barre cruised past Rochester, 9-2. Chase Whitley tossed four no-hit innings to earn his fourth win in relief and Eduardo Nunez plated two runs for the Yankees. Ray Chang smacked a two-run double to provide the only offense for the Red Wings.
Veteran Willie Harris was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and fell a triple shy of the cycle as Louisville defeated Toledo, 4-2, for its third straight win. Tim Gustafson struck out four and gave up a run on five hits over 6 1/3 innings to earn his fourth victory and Corky Miller was 2-for-2 with an RBI for the Bats. Drew Smyly took the loss after allowing three runs over 3 2/3 innings for the Mud Hens.
In the Pacific Coast League, Andrew Brown hit his 22nd homer of the year, a three-run shot in the fifth, to propel Colorado Springs past Omaha, 10-7. Charlie Blackmon went 3-for-5 with a triple and two runs and Rockies' No. 5 prospect Tim Wheeler plated a pair for the Sky Sox as well. Mitch Maier homered and drove in three and Adam Moore going 3-for-4 with two doubles for the Storm Chasers.
Sean O'Sullivan (12-5) worked 5 2/3 one-run innings, scattering five hits and a walk with two strikeouts, to give Las Vegas the edge in a 4-1 win over Round Rock. Ricardo Nanita supplied a two-run homer for the 51s. Joey Butler drove in the Express' lone run.
Top D-backs prospect Trevor Bauer held Iowa scoreless over six frames, allowing five hits and two walks while fanning five without factoring into the decision, as Reno won, 2-1. Arizona's No. 14 prospect Adam Eaton and Ryan Budde both hit solo shots for the Aces. Frankie De La Cruz surrendered one run on five hits and three walks with four strikeouts for the Cubs.
Angels' No. 10 prospect Kole Calhoun tripled and hit a walk-off homer in the bottom of the 10th to push Salt Lake past Oklahoma City, 4-3. Garrett Richards scattered three hits over three scoreless innings for the Bees. Fernando Martinez lifted his 13th homer of the year for the RedHawks.
Vince Belnome hit a grand slam and Jeremy Hermida homered and drove in four runs to lead Tucson to a 14-11 win over Albuquerque. Daniel Robertson also went 3-for-6 with three runs and a double for the Padres. Dodgers' No. 11 prospect Tim Federowicz went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and Tyler Henson doubled twice for the Isotopes.
Xavier Nady homered and Giants' No. 2 prospect Francisco Peguero drove in another run to edge Fresno past Memphis, 2-1. Boof Bonser started for the Grizzlies, scattering two hits and three walks with a strikeout over four innings. Brandon Dickson did not factor into the decision for the Redbirds despite allowing just one run on five hits and two walks while fanning six over seven innings.
Luke Montz homered twice, going 3-for-5 with three RBIs, while Chris Aguila added a homer and plated two more runs as New Orleans beat Tacoma, 9-4. Chris Coghlan also hit a solo shot for the Zephyrs, while Mariners' No. 5 prospect Vinnie Catricala, Alex Liddi and Luis Rodriguez all homered for the Rainiers.
Jordan Brown fell a triple short of the cycle and Jeff Bianchi added another home run as Nashville topped Sacramento, 5-3. A's No. 5 prospect Grant Green doubled and drove in a run for the River Cats, and Shane Peterson picked up a pair of RBIs as well.
