Nutzy's Rotary Funn Run December 1st
The Funn Run will begin at The Diamond at approximately 7:30 AM and conclude at 9:15 AM in time for participants to attend the Christmas Parade. The cost for runners to enter the Funn Run is $25, and the first 500 registered runners will receive a limited edition Nutzy Funn Run Knit Cap.
"This is what makes me so proud to be a Rotarian", said Executive Vice President of Xenith Bank and Chairman of Nutzy's Rotary Funn Run Jeff O'Flaherty. "The opportunity to partner with respected Richmond organizations like the Flying Squirrels and the Dominion Christmas Parade, raise money for deserving causes and help area children while fulfilling our Rotary motto of "Service Above Self" - it's a win-win-win!" The Squirrels have also finalized preparations for, Nutzy's Winter FUNN Fest, which will take place the night prior to the Funn Run on Friday, November 30th. The festival-style gathering will take place from 4-8 PM at The Diamond, and will include runner registration as well as the Flying Squirrels annual Toys for Tots Christmas Party. "The West Richmond Rotary Club approached us about doing something this off-season that would accomplish their mission of benefiting kids while also engaging the community," said Flying Squirrels Vice President and COO Todd "Parney" Parnell. "I think this Funn Run has the potential of being an annual tradition in Richmond that people here look forward to every year. Being able to run part of the parade route where all of the people will be lined up is going to be a great memory-making experience for those that participate." One of the highlights of the event and the most unique aspect is the "Toddler Division". Participants in this division will be allowed to push a toddler in a stroller while navigating the course.
"In addition to helping kids, we also wanted to encourage families to be active and participate in the event," added Parnell. "The Toddler Division will give the entire family a rare opportunity to be a part of a run like this. It'll be awesome to see all of the strollers going along the parade route."
