Davis named IL Batter of the Week
The International League announced today that Norfolk shortstop Blake Davis and Syracuse pitcher Zach Duke have been named the League's Batter and Pitcher of the Week for the period from August 6-12.
Tides shortstop Blake Davis led the International League with a .565 batting average over the past week. He collected a remarkable 13 hits in just 23 at-bats, turning in multiple-hit efforts in five separate games. Davis enjoyed his biggest night this week on Friday in the first of a four-game series with the 1st place Charlotte Knights in which he established new season-highs with four hits and three runs scored.
28-year-old Blake Davis is in his seventh season as a professional player. His entire career has been spent within the Orioles organization, including parts of the last four seasons with the Norfolk Tides. Davis is a native of Newport Beach, California.
