BayBears Open Exciting Ten-Game Homestand
The BayBears and Blue Wahoos renew the Bay-to-Bay rivalry Tuesday, August 14 when the gates open at 6 PM and first pitch scheduled for 7:05 PM. Tuesday is a Guaranteed "Win-tzells" night. If the BayBears win, fans will receive a free ticket to the next Tuesday home.
Wednesday, August 15, offers a great reason for fans to "Wine-Down" at the ballpark with $2 Rush Wine from 6-8 PM. The BayBears and Blue Wahoos will take the field with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 PM. Also on Wednesday, the BayBears welcome the Marine Corps League National Convention to Hank Aaron Stadium. During the pre-game festivities, the BayBears will pay tribute to the fallen, and then National Commandant Vic Voltagglio will be escorted on the field in a USMC Humvee through smoke grenades by members of the Third Force Recon Unit from Mobile. Snipers in full ghillie suits, along with a patrol will escort the Commandant to his first pitch. During the seventh inning stretch, instead of take me out to the ballgame, the BayBears will sing the Marine Anthem (from the Halls of Montezuma). Wednesday's tribute to America's military is presented by Austell, and in part by East Shore Toyota and Honda.
The BayBears and Blue Wahoos continue the series Thursday, August 16 at 7:05 PM. It's "Thirsty Thursday" at Hank Aaron Stadium which means fans can purchase $2 16oz draft Budweiser beers and Pepsi. Following Thursday's game, fans are encouraged to stick around for the GOkickball-Mobile, kickball championship game at Hank Aaron Stadium.
After the BayBears game against the Blue Wahoos on Friday, August 17 at 7:05 PM, fans are encouraged to stick around for the tenth fireworks show of the season. It's going to be a majestic "Concert in the Sky" presented in part by Buffalo Rock Pepsi, Treadwell Ford, Treadwell Honda, Coastal Bank and Trust and WKRG TV5 and 95KSJ.
Saturday, August 18, Mobile and Pensacola conclude their series with a special "Kids Eat Free" night. Kids receive a voucher for one free hot dog and Pepsi with the purchase of a $5 box seat. The offer is only available at the ticket window and not valid with any other offer. Saturday's first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. Also on Saturday, the first 1,000 adult fans receive a special "Bay-to-Bay Series" T-shirt, sponsored by Cooks Pest Control, WALA Fox 10 TV and Hit Music Now - 107.3 FM.
Sunday, August 19, the BayBears welcome the Jackson Generals for a five game series with first pitch scheduled at 5:05 p.m. When the gates open at 4 p.m., kids can play catch on the field until 4:30 p.m. All fans are invited to stick around after the game for a "Sermon on the Mound" with manager Turner Ward, Hitting Coach Jay Bell and Pitching Coach Dan Carlson. At the conclusion of "Sermon on the Mound", children are invited to run the bases.
Monday, August 20, is Every Monday Matters at "The Hank", presented by Remington College. The event benefits the League of Women Voters of Alabama. Following the 10 game homestand against the Blue Wahoos and Generals, the BayBears travel to Kodak, Tennessee for a five game road series against the Tennessee Smokies. The BayBears return to Hank Aaron Stadium for the final series of the regular season when they play host to the Mississippi Braves, August 30 - September 3.
