Former New Orleans Saint Michael Lewis Appearance

Pearl, MS - The Mississippi Braves are proud to announce that former New Orleans Saints' Kick Returner, Michael Lewis, will make a special appearance during the Mississippi Braves' game at Trustmark Park on Friday, August 24.
Lewis will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the M-Braves' game against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. Afterward, he will meet and greet fans on the concourse while signing autographs from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM. In addition, fans who wear New Orleans Saints' attire will be allowed to purchase Field Level Tickets for $5 each while they last. The game's first pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM with gates opening at 6:00 PM.
Lewis, who was signed by the Saints in 2000, became an instant local inspiration after going from a truck driver to an NFL star. After signing with the Saints, he played for the Rhein Fire of NFL Europe in 2001 before returning to New Orleans in 2002. Once back in Louisiana, the kicker set an NFL record for combined kick/punt return yardage of 2,432 yards. Additionally, during his time spent with the team, he set the Saints all-time career record in punt returns (142) and punt return yardage (1,482).
The former Saint was released in 2007, but won many awards and has been bestowed many honors. Some of these honors include being named the NFL Alumni Special Teams Player of the Year, the 2004 NFC Special Teams Player of the Week, and in 2011 elected to the American Football Association Semi Pro Hall of Fame. Today Michael Lewis now serves as a Saints' Team Ambassador.
The Mississippi Braves will return to Trustmark Park on Sunday, August 19 for the final homestand of the 2012 regular season. From August 19th until August 23rd the M-Braves will play a five-game series against the Huntsville Stars. Then on Friday, August 24 the M-Braves will take the field against the Southern League's newest team, the Pensacola Blue Wahoos for a five-game series.
