Denny McLain Among Upcoming Events!
McLain, a two time Cy Young Award winner and 10 year veteran of the Major Leagues, will stop by for Sunday's series finale with the Carolina Mudcats at 6:05. McLain debuted in the bigs for the Detroit Tigers in 1963, playing for the Senators, A's and Braves before retiring in 1972. He won the Cy Young back -to-back years in 1968 and 1969, and in '68 won 31 games. That mark still stands as the last 30-win season in the Major Leagues. He was the Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year in 1969. McClain will be on hand to sign autographs and take pictures with fans.
On Monday the Salem Red Sox roll into town at 7:05 with a Kids Eat Free night. Tuesday then features a Seniors Eat Free special. All fans, 55 and up, will receive a voucher good for a hot dog, small drink and a bag of popcorn. It's also Team Tuesday, with the first 1,000 fans picking up a free Pelicans poster.
The homestand continues on Wednesday, August 22nd, with a 7:05 star on both a Wiener Wednesday and a Wet Wednesday. It's also a salute to the Red Solo Cup encore! There will be $1 Hebrew National Hotdogs all game long with $1 domestic drafts from 6-8pm. The first 1,000 fans will also receive Red Solo Cup koozies. The homestand concludes on Thursday at 7:05 when the Pelicans present the final Thirsty Thursday of the regular season.
