Tigers Make It Two in a Row
LHP Josh Turley (3-0) pitched three innings of relief and struck out five of the nine men he faced to earn the win.
The IronBirds scored a run in the second inning. 3B Torsten Boss (1-4) singled, went to second base on a groundout by DH Sam Kimmel (0-3), stole third base and scored on a single by LF Will Howard (1-3) for a 1-0 lead.
The Tigers scored two runs in the second inning. 3B Edgar Corcino (1-2) walked and went to second base when 1B Juaner Aguasvivas (1-3) singled. A walk to C Timothy Remes (0-2) loaded the bases and a wild pitch from LHP Jorge Rivera (0-2) allowed Corcino and Aguasvivas to score for a 2-1 lead.
Connecticut added two runs in the fourth inning. DH Tyler Hanover (0-2) walked and scored on a triple by Corcino, who ended up stealing home for a 4-1 lead.
The Tigers and IronBirds play game two of their series on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive the Andrew Graham Bobble Head Giveaway. It's also a "Sunday Funday" with a post-game catch on the field sponsored by Dick's Sporting Goods and a post-game running of the bases for all kids 12 and under sponsored by Ben and Jerry's.
