Travelers and Barons Team Up For Nick's Kids Fund
Travelers Insurance and the Birmingham Barons celebrated 'Travelers Night At The Ballpark' on Saturday, August 18th. As part of the celebration, members of the 1992 Alabama Football National Championship Football Team threw out first pitches to generate awareness for Nick's Kids Fund, Alabama coach Nick Saban's charity. Since starting the fund in 1998, Nick's Kids has distributed over $1.5 million to more than 150 local charities to promote and support children, family, teacher and student causes.
Former members of the Crimson Tide Prince Wimbley, Derrick Owens Lassic, Antonio Langham, David Palmer and Tyrone Prothro each threw out a first pitch prior to the game. For each strike thrown, Travelers donated $500 to Nick's Kids Fund, for a total of $2,500. Travelers previously raised $5,000 for the Nick's Kids Fun in 2011 and will continue this effort and partnership at the Alabama vs. Ole Miss football game on Saturday, September 29th.
Throughout the game, the Alabama alumni were on site at the Travelers Photo Experience, where fans had the opportunity to have their photo taken with the players for their personalized cover of the Birmingham Barons game program.
Additional fan activities at Travelers Night at the Ballpark included the Travelers Putting Challenge, where fans who made two out of three putts received a prize. Travelers also co-sponsored the post-game fireworks show.
