March 30, 2008
Rome, Ga. -- The Rome Braves announced their 2008 roster today. The roster includes two number one draft choices -- outfielders Jason Heyward (2007) and Cody Johnson (2006). Heyward rates as Baseball America's second best prospect in the Braves organization. He hit a combined .302 between the Gulf Coast League and Danville Braves in 2007. Johnson is rated as the 11th best prospect in the Atlanta organization and hit .305 at Danville last season.

The Rome squad will be loaded with left-handed pitching with nine of the thirteen pitchers on the roster being southpaws.

"This is an exciting group of players to represent the Braves and Rome for the 2008 season," says Rome General Manager Michael Dunn.

Tickets for the April 3 home opener are still available. Thursday's Opening Night festivities include an appearance by Baseball Hall of Fame member Bruce Sutter who will be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch. The opening home stand includes complementary magnetic schedules on Friday night, fireworks Saturday night, special 1pm start on Wednesday, and dollar drink night on Thursday.

The Rome Braves box office will be open from 10am-6pm. For more information, contact the Rome Braves at 706-378-5144 or log onto www.romebraves.com.
