Wesson Strong in Season Finale
Wesson's lone rough inning came in the second, when Altoona put together five hits to put their two runs on the board. Charlie Cutler led off the inning with a triple, and scored on Quincy Latimore's single to center. After a single by Stefan Welch, Latimore came around to score on another single, by Evan Chambers. A hit by Kelson Brown loaded the bases with no outs for the Curve. Wesson recorded back-to-back strikeouts of Adalberto Santos and Jarek Cunningham, and then got Andrew Lambo to fly out to escape the jam without any further damage.
The SeaWolves scored their run in the bottom of the third inning. Brandon Douglas led off the inning with a walk and moved to third on a single by James McCann. Jamie Johnson then grounded into a force out, enabling Douglas to score.
The Curve bullpen finished out the game with three scoreless innings, including Vic Black's 13th save of the year. Brandon Cumpton (12-11) got the win for Altoona, going six innings and limiting the Erie offense to just two hits and one run.
Another season of SeaWolves' baseball is in the books, as Erie finishes 2012 with a record of 57-84. Altoona concludes their season at 72-70. These two teams will meet again in seven months, on April 4, 2013, on Opening Day of the 2013 Double-A season.
