Arenado's Strong Finish Results in Pair of Awards

3B is named the TL's Player of the Month and Player of the Week
September 4, 2012
Tulsa third baseman Nolan Arenado finished the 2012 regular season as one of the hottest hitters in Minor League Baseball. As a result, Arenado was named the Texas League's Player of the Month for August by the Topps Trading Card Company.

The 21-year-old is considered the top prospect in the Colorado Rockies farm system by most experts, and he looked the part over the final month of the season. In August, Arenado hit safely in 22 of the 27 games that he played, hitting .358 (39-109). Of his 39 hits, 11 were doubles and 4 were home runs. He finished the month with 14 runs batted in and an OPS of .944.

The hot streak also continued into September and the final three games of the season, making Arenado the TL's final Player of the Week winner. Over his final seven games, he was 13-31 (.419) with four extra-base hits and five runs batted in. The two awards cap off a solid season for Arenado who also was named to both the Texas League Mid-Season All-Star team and the MLB Futures Game roster.

Arenado will look to continue his stellar play this week as the Texas League North Division Playoffs begin at ONEOK Field. The Drillers will host the Springfield Cardinals in Games 1 and 2 of the divisional round on Wednesday, September 5 and Thursday, September 6. Tickets are still available at the box office at ONEOK Field or by calling the Drillers ticket line at 918-744-5901.
