Tacoma Rainiers: four things to watch

April 3, 2008

1 Tacoma's new-look uniforms: The Rainiers have unveiled a new look, but don't be surprised if you go to a game and don't see it.

The new logo - red, white, and navy blue in color - features a "T" and an "R" overlaying a compass, giving it a similar look to the parent club. But the navy and aqua theme are far from gone; for the time being, the new look is reserved for Tacoma's alternate jerseys.

The alternate jerseys will be used periodically as the team sees fit, likely on special occasions such as weekends and holidays.

2 Wladimir Balentien: It's VLAD-im-eer, thank you very much.

Mispronouncing it is an innocent enough mistake, the Rainiers' outfielder explains, "because it's spelled with a "W" and it's pronounced VLAD-im-eer, but you write it with a "W."
