April 8, 2008
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Buffalo Bisons are pleased to announce that they have hired WBEN Newsradio 930 news director Monica Wilson as a public address announcer for the 2008 season. She becomes the first female PA announcer in the 123-year history of the Buffalo Bisons.

Wilson will share duties with long-standing Dunn Tire Park PA announcer, WKBW TV's Jon Summers. Wilson will primarily work Bisons' home games on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, but will debut on Tuesday, April 15 as the Bisons host the Syracuse Chiefs for a 1:05 p.m. game.

"We're very pleased to bring such a well-respected voice and talent to our production of Buffalo Bisons home game," said Mike Buczkowski, vice president/general manager of the Buffalo Bisons. "With all the accomplishments she's already had in the Western New York media, Monica is an All-Star addition to our fan-friendly ballpark experience."

"I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the outstanding crew at the Bisons and indulging my passion for sun, fun and food at the best place to spend a summer day in Buffalo," said Wilson.

Wilson is a native of Lackawanna, N.Y., and a graduate of St. Bonaventure University. Her broadcast career began at WECQ in Geneva, N.Y., in 1985. Since then, she has worked at WHAM in Rochester, WGR Newsradio and public radio WNED (13 years). In 2001, Wilson joined the award-winning team at WBEN Newsradio 930 as news director. She can also be heard delivering the news on WTSS, Star 102.5 FM, another Entercom radio station. Wilson currently resides in Akron, N.Y., with her husband, Greg.
