MOTHER NATURE BACK AT IT ON THURSDAY
The Quad Cities River Bandits were rained out for the third time in eight days on Thursday, as their scheduled series finale against the Cedar Rapids Kernels at Veterans Memorial Stadium was cancelled. Since the River Bandits and Kernels do not meet again before the all-star break, the game will not be made up.
The two teams hoped to get the game in after the skies cleared early in the evening, but with severe thunderstorms and a tornado warning on the horizon, the Kernels grounds crew was forced to put the tarp back on the field and the game was called.
The River Bandits will return to Modern Woodmen Park for a 7:00 p.m. game on Friday night against the South Bend Silver Hawks. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. and the show will start at 6:00 p.m. on a FIREWORKS Friday that will also feature Renew Your Vows Night.
