Moreland Joins Kings, Reed to Frisco

First-baseman Mitch Moreland promoted to Clinton, Evan Reed to make spot start with RoughRiders
April 13, 2008

Clinton, IA - The Clinton LumberKings, in conjunction with the Texas Rangers have announced that first-baseman Mitch Moreland has joined the 25-man roster after starting the year in extended Spring Training. Also announced today, right-hander Evan Reed has been promoted to double-A Frisco to make a spot start on Monday with the RoughRiders.

Moreland, 22, was drafted by the Rangers in the 17th round of last year's June draft out of Mississippi State. He appeared in 21 games with short-season Spokane, hitting .259 with seven doubles, two home runs and 15 RBI.

Reed, 22, had made just one start so far with Clinton, going 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and six strikeouts in 6.0 innings. Recent rainouts in Wisconsin prevented him from making his most recent scheduled start. Following his start with the Riders, Reed is expected to re-join the LumberKings.

The moves give Clinton 24 active players on the 25-man roster.
