JetHawks to honor construction worker with promo

First 1,000 fans will receive tattered Red Sox jersey t-shirts
April 15, 2008
LANCASTER, CA - The Lancaster JetHawks, Class A affiliate of the World Champion Boston Red Sox, will honor the work of construction worker Gino Castignoli, who added his own personal touch to the new Yankee Stadium being built in the Bronx. The club will be giving away tattered Red Sox jersey t-shirts to the first 1,000 fans on July 26 in partnership with the California Office of Traffic Safety's Click It Or Ticket program.

In a well-documented case of Red Sox Nation once again raising the stakes of passion and commitment, a Bronx construction worker recently took the liberty of placing a David Ortiz Red Sox jersey in a concrete slab within the bowels of the new Yankee Stadium in New York, which is scheduled to open in 2009. The hero to all Sox fans deemed it necessary to place the memento within the construction site in order to place a curse on the facility.

The give away jersey t-shirts will feature markings, dirt and tears that symbolize the jersey which was pulled from its resting place yesterday. The jersey will also bear the dates representing the timeframe that it was buried in the heart of the Evil Empire.

In addition to the commemorative jersey t-shirt, pieces of concrete will be autographed by current JetHawks players, and Fenway's Future Stars, and given away throughout the event to lucky fans.

The JetHawks continue its current homestand tonight with a three-game series against the Modesto Nuts through Wednesday. All games will begin at 7:00 PM and tickets may be ordered on-line at www.JetHawks.com or by calling 661.726.5400.
