Ofilio Castro promoted to Harrisburg

WOODBRIDGE, Va.- The Potomac Nationals announced today that infielder Ofilio Castro has been promoted to Double-A Harrisburg and infielder Leonard Davis was activated from the disabled list.

Originally signed as a non-drafted free agent in 2000, Castro spent the first 14 games of the season as the Nationals primary third baseman. The 24-year-old boasted a .236 average with three doubles and six RBI.

The call up for Castro marks his second stint with the Senators in his career. After sporting a .304 average in 55 games and being named an All-Star with Potomac in 2007, the Nicaragua native was promoted to Harrisburg in June, where he hit .254 in 57 games.

Davis, selected in the eighth round of the 2004 First-Year Player Draft after playing at Fresno City College, will take the place of Castro on the 25-man roster. The California native returns to Potomac for his second season after he has been playing in extended Spring Training while recovering from a wrist injury.

Davis' 2007 season was split between Hagerstown and Potomac - the 24-year-old played in 96 games for Hagerstown leading the team in home runs, RBI and doubles and was then promoted to Potomac appearing in 23 games with four home runs and 10 RBI.
