Grizzlies ready to head home
Intertwined with eight games against the Iowa Cubs and Omaha Royals are giveaways, special ticket offers, concessions deals, and several one-of-a-kind promotions that have become staples of the Fresno Grizzlies baseball experience.
The Grizzlies open their second homestand of the season on Monday, April 28th when they take on the Iowa Cubs, Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. Like all Mondays in 2008, the first game of the series gives fans the opportunity to take advantage of the Wienerschnitzel Monday Madness deals where 2 tickets, 2 hot dogs, 2 sodas, and 2 Island Waterpark passes cost just $14. Monday will also be the inaugural 'Peter, Paul, and Murray' Race on the field, to settle an intra-office power struggle between the ticket sales, accounting, and marketing departments.
Tuesday, April 29th is Tecate Taco Tuesday where fans will be able to purchase $2 tacos, taquitos, and churros all night long, and $2 Tecate beers (16oz.) until 8:00pm.
April 30th will be a Way Back Wednesday, presented by The Fresno Bee, where children, senior citizens, and military personnel (with ID) can enter the ballpark for just $1. Additionally, Wednesday will be Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana "Ride Your Kid's Coattails Night" at Chukchansi Park. In honor of Billy Ray Cyrus' shameless ride back into the national consciousness, any parent who brings an award won by his/her child will get into the Park for just $1 on Wednesday, a night that will be filled with tributes to the Hannah Montana, Cyrus' precocious daughter.
Thursday, May 1st, the series finale between the Grizzlies and Cubs, will be the second Thirsty Thursday promotion of the season, where fans can enjoy 12oz. Tecate Light beers for just $1 until the game's 5th inning and $1 sodas all night long. Thursday will be the inaugural Chukchansi Park 'Singles Night' as well, with speed dating in the Tecate Cantina.
Friday May 2nd when Fresno opens a four-game series with the Omaha Royals, Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, will be an 'Orange Out Friday' at the ballpark. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a free 'Orange Out' t-shirt, compliments of Rally's, as the Grizzlies continue their year-long challenge to fans to fill Chukchansi Park with orange and black attire. Friday Night Fireworks, courtesy of Bingham Toyota and JackFM, will light up the sky following the game.
On Saturday, the first 2,500 fans into the Park will receive a giveaway they can use right away, a stadium seat cushion courtesy of Chukchansi Gold Resort. Sunday, May 4th is a special celebration for Parker's birthday at Chukchansi Park. Prior to the game, sure to be attended by an assortment of mascots from around the Central Valley, fans will have the opportunity to get autographs on the concourse with selected Grizzlies players, sponsored by ABC30. Following the final out, children 12-and-under will get the chance to emulate their favorite ballplayers and run the bases at Chukchansi Park thanks to Del Taco. Team ambassador, and former Major Leaguer Gus Zernial will also be signing copies of his book on the concourse on Sunday.
Finally, the Grizzlies wrap up their eight-game homestand with a day game on Monday, May 5th against Omaha, presented by Express Jet and KMJ580. In addition to the Wienerschnitzel Monday Madness deal, businesspeople can take a long lunch and receive a $2 ticket when they bring a business card to the box office and Monday will also be Cubicle Appreciation Day.
