Royals visit Brass Pro Shops
Starting pitchers Kyle Davies and Matt Wright, as well as utility player Dave Matranga, will be at the store located near the Mid-America Center from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The players will be on hand to sign autographs and visit with fans.
Davies, a 24-year old right-hander acquired by Kansas City in a trade with the Atlanta Braves last July, is 2-1 with a Pacific Coast League-leading 0.90 ERA after his first four starts with Omaha this season. Wright is 0-1 with a 5.14 ERA and is scheduled to make his fourth start for Omaha on Friday night vs. Nashville. He spent the entire 2007 season with Omaha, going 10-5 and posting a 4.06 ERA, which ranked seventh in the PCL. Matranga, in his first season with the Royals, has made the most of limited playing time early this year, going 5-for-10 (.500) at the plate with four RBI and five runs scored in three games, entering Thursday night's contest.
"It's our pleasure to partner with Bass Pro Shops to host Saturday's appearance," said Royals Director of Community Relations Lesley Crutcher. "We want to make the Omaha Royals players visible in the community and we hope fans take advantage of this and many other upcoming player appearances on tap this season."
In addition to the players, Saturday's event will feature Omaha Royals mascot Spike, a huge inflatable of the Royals other main mascot, Casey and a speed pitch inflatable to allow fans to test their pitching speed.
