Haunted Stadium open now thru Halloween

September 27, 2012
HAUNTEDSTADIUM.COM Presented by Storm Events - a division of the Lake Elsinore Storm, the San Diego Padres' Class A-Advanced Minor League affiliate - this year's "Field of Screams: The Haunted Stadium" boasts four mazes (one more than last year's event) and two scare zones to frighten thrill seekers age 13 and older. Younger children will be admitted at the discretion of a parent or guardian.

For the second consecutive year, the haunt is being helmed by 24-year-old twin brothers from Temecula Jeromy and Zachary Ball, known as "The Bloodshed Brothers." Assisting the twins will be Light and Sound Designer Jesse Blanke, who also is returning. The brothers' creepy take on the annual attraction, which focuses on the art of distraction, drew a record-high attendance of over 10,000 last year.

"It's the scariest haunted house between San Diego and Los Angeles," Jeromy Ball said. "This year's haunt is all-around bigger and better."

"By adding a fourth maze and more attractions, we give scream-goers more to look forward to each year," Storm Events General Manager Bruce Kessman said. "We're happy to have the Bloodshed Brothers back for a second year to incorporate the professional duo's dark and creative talents in the area's No. 1 local haunt."

This year's mazes, totaling over 7,000 square feet, include:

- HYDE STREET MASSACRE: Homey on the outside, horrifying on the inside, Hyde Street is Otis Hatcher's abode filled with death, torment and restlessness as he waits for his next victim.

-THE ORPHANAGE: A turn-of-the-century building is still locked and orphans, following an uprising, continue to fend for themselves. This year's maze is twice the size as last year's.

-KURTAIN KHAOS: Explore a House of Mirrors-style circus tent in a new and twisted way.

-THE DARKNESS: It's not the darkness that will scare you; it's what waits within it.

The two scarezones, or free-range open spaces enveloped in fog, are:

-ZEEBO'S MIDWAY OF MADNESS: A psychedelic maze of creepy clowns and a memorable Zeebo, who is anything but humorous.

-LAKESIDE PARK: Lost trick-or-treaters and distraught orphans roam the park, built atop a long-forgotten children's cemetery.

Also there will be a coffin ride simulator, "the last ride" to give patrons a frightening sensory experience of being buried alive.

The Haunted Stadium officially opens to the public on Sept. 28. It will be open Sept. 28-30 and every Thursday through Sunday in October, including Halloween night. Hours: 7-10 p.m. Thursdays and Sundays, 7-11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Tickets are $15 for regular admission or $20 for a V.I.P. skip-the-line wristband, available now at the Storm's ticket office or online at hauntedstadium.com. The ticket office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
