RoughRiders to host Frisco Miracle League
The RoughRiders will bring the gameday experience of Dr Pepper Ballpark to the Miracle League, with entertainers, such as Deuce, Daisy, the Diamond Girls and emcees. RoughRiders emcee Matt Stamm will announce players as they come up to bat, the Diamond Girls will dance, and Deuce and Daisy will be there to cheer everyone on. RoughRiders players will be the "umpires" and also sign autographs. They will also hand out trophies to the participants at the end of the game.
The Miracle League is a national sports organization open to all special-needs children. The Frisco Miracle League is open to children and families throughout the Metroplex, and currently serves hundreds of children. They offer bowling, baseball and soccer leagues to kids ages 5-18. All children play baseball with a "buddy," a volunteer from the community who makes sure the kids have a great experience. Game days offer a chance for parents to relax and let the Miracle League take care of their kids in a fun and safe environment. All games take place at the "Mike Simpson Miracle League Field" at Bacchus Community Park in Frisco.
Who:
Thousands are expected to gather at the Dr Pepper Ballpark in Frisco in their favorite pink t-shirts to benefit the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation (MKACF) as the Frisco RoughRiders take on the Midland Rockhounds. For each ticket sold to the May 3 game, $5 will go to the MKACF. Founded in 1996, the MKACF was created to fund research of cancers affecting women and, in 2000, the Foundation expanded its mission to include the fight against domestic violence. To date, the MKACF has awarded more than $14 million to domestic violence initiatives, and $9.3 million in grants to cancer researchers and related causes throughout the United States.
What:
In an effort to truly "Paint the Park Pink," RoughRiders baseball players will wear pink jerseys to be auctioned to the highest bidders following the game, with proceeds going to the MKACF. Of course, it wouldn't be Mary Kay without pink Cadillacs, so a multitude of the word-famous icons will be on display, including two of the newest members of the Mary Kay Cadillac lineup -- the sporty XLR convertible and the luxurious Escalade. In the stands, thousands of fans will sport pink t-shirts with some in limited-edition, pink RoughRiders hats.
