Sidewinders Name Radtke Lead Broadcaster
The Tucson Sidewinders have selected Ryan Radtke as the team's primary broadcaster for the 2006 season. Radtke will replace Brett Dolan in the Sidewinders radio booth after he was recently hired by the Houston Astros.
Despite his new role, Radtke is no stranger to Tucson Electric Park or Sidewinders fans. Ryan has called Tucson home games along side Dolan, as well as select road games for the past three seasons.
"The Sidewinders are excited to have a tremendous young talent like Ryan to continue the strong tradition of broadcasting in Tucson," said General Manager Rick Parr. "Ryan has a unique voice and style that our fans will continue to enjoy and we strongly feel he will be the next Sidewinders broadcaster to one day reach a Major League radio booth."
At just 29 years of age, Radtke immediately becomes the youngest broadcaster in the Pacific Coast League. Ryan will look to follow in the footsteps of a pipeline of broadcasting talent in the Tucson franchise which has sent each of the PCL's previous two broadcaster's to the majors in Dolan and Matt Vasgersian, who was promoted to the Milwaukee Brewers prior to the 1997 season.
In addition to his previous work with the Sidewinders, Radtke has served as the longtime pre and post-game voice for the University of Arizona Wildcats football and basketball team's as well as calling baseball play-by-play for the Wildcats. Ryan will continue to serve as the pre-game host of the Wildcats sports on the university's statewide network.
The Sidewinders are currently taking applications for the team's secondary broadcasting position for the 2006 season.
