Chiefs adopt pair of teams in Afghanistan

The Syracuse Chiefs have adopted a pair of military softball teams stationed on Camp Phoenix in Afghanistan. The teams are made up of soldiers from the Army National Guard's 27th Brigade, which is based out of Syracuse.

The Chiefs donated t-shirts, uniform pants, and baseball caps to outfit the teams, named Hellfire One and Hellfire Two.

The two Syracuse teams compete within a league of 10 teams made up of Army and Navy personnel from multiple units based on Camp Phoenix.

Each team will play approximately 15 games each over a 10-week schedule. The two highlighted matchups of the season will be when the two Syracuse teams face off on April 27 and June 1.
