2012 MLB Debuts: Evan Crawford

October 8, 2012
Nine Fisher Cats made their Major League debut during the 2012 season.  Over the next few weeks, we'll put the spotlight on each player, highlighting their impact on the Blue Jays.

We start today with a look at the first Fisher Cat to advance this season - reliever Evan Crawford.  The lefty spent all of 2011 with the Fisher Cats, and returned to start the new season with New Hamsphire in April.  After just three appearances, he got the call to join the big league club in Toronto.

Crawford made his debut on April 15 agianst Baltimore, tossing a scoreless inning in a 9-2 win.  The Alabama native made four straight scoreless appearances before allowing two runs in his final April appearance.  From there, he made appearances in May, June, and July, but spent most of the remainder of the season with Triple-A Las Vegas.

In total, Crawford pitched in ten games and posted a decieving 6.75 ERA.  He gave up runs in just three of his ten appearances, allowing a total of 10 hits over 8.0 innings.  His best success came against lefties, who hit just .118 against him.  Because of that success, Crawford could be a strong candidate for a left-handed specialist's role out of the Toronto bullpen in 2013.
