Royals Make Fans Special Offer For May 27-28
Beginning tomorrow - Thursday, May 22nd - fans may bring used tickets from any April Royals home game to the Royals ticket office at Rosenblatt Stadium and exchange them a free general admission ticket to the Royals games on Tuesday, May 27th and Wednesday, May 28th. Both are 6:35 p.m. contests vs. the Oklahoma RedHawks.
Fans will receive one free G.A. ticket for each used April game ticket, up to a maximum of four tickets for each of the games next Tuesday and Wednesday - for a maximum total of eight free tickets.
Cold weather and/or rain caused the postponement of four Royals home games so far this season, including the team's scheduled season and home opener on April 3rd, as well as a second Thursday night on April 10th; Friday, April 25th and Saturday, May 10th.
Even when the Royals managed to get their games in last month, the average temperature at first pitch for the club's 13 April openings was a chilly 56.3 degrees.
"We want to thank our fans who braved the elements while coming out to the ballpark," said Royals General Manager Martie Cordaro. "We don't control the weather, but we do control the fan experience and we feel this is a great way to give back to our valued fans."
In 2007, the Royals did not have an April home game postponed by bad weather. And yet, through games of May 20th, 2008 the Royals are averaging more than 600 fans per game more than last season. A total of 87,569 fans have attended Royals games in 22 openings this year, for an average attendance of 3,980. In 2007, the attendance total for the first 22 openings was 73,595, for an average crowd of 3,345.
The Royals ticket office at Rosenblatt will be open on Thursday, May 22nd and Friday, May 23rd from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Tuesday, May 24th and Wednesday, May 25th from 9 a.m. through those night's games.
