Hooks mascots battle it out
Temperatures are rising.
Just ask Rusty Hook and Sammy Seagull.
The two Corpus Christi Hooks mascots are now locked in a not-so-friendly battle as they exhort Coastal Bend residents to Vote Hooks for Affordable Family Entertainment.
Each has produced commercials designed to smear the other.
If you've been a closet supporter of Rusty or Sammy since their campaigns began on April 1, it's time to take a public stand.
Rusty Hook and Sammy Seagull yard signs are available at the Corpus Christi Hooks offices. Just stop by Whataburger Field weekdays between 9 and 5, or ask for a yard sign the next time you're out for a Hooks game.
If it's more convenient to have your sign of choice delivered, contact Twyla Ritter at 561-4665.
According to Hooks president J.J. Gottsch, displaying your sign with pride could lead to free 2009 season tickets.
"Each day during the month of June, Rusty, Sammy and a group of our party patrollers will drive around town," Gottsch said. "If they see a Vote Hooks sign at a residence or business, they will enter the address into a contest for a pair of 2009 season tickets.
"All who display signs will be mailed two Be Our Guest passes good for four reserved seat tickets to any Sunday through Thursday game in 2008."
