RCN to televise 16 Reading Phillies games

February 8, 2006
READING, Pa. -- The Reading Phillies and RCN have announced that the Lehigh Valley cable network will carry 16 games during the 2006 season. RCN televised three R-Phils Eastern League games in 2005.

Veteran Reading Phillies announcer Steve Degler and RCN's Gary Laubach and Scott Barr will handle broadcast duties. Eight of the games will be aired live, and the remainder will be tape delayed.

"We are very proud to be associated with a great organization such as the Reading Phillies," John Filipowicz, SVP and General Manager for RCN of Pennsylvania, said. "The family fun atmosphere at a Reading Phillies game is second to none. We hope our subscribers enjoy watching these games as much as we enjoy producing them."

RCN serves over 120,000 homes in the Lehigh Valley and suburban Philadelphia region that will see R-Phils baseball. RCN also broadcasts in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco. In their local area, RCN 4 broadcasts major events within the region and other programming of local concern.

"The Reading Phillies are extremely pleased that RCN TV has agreed to carry so many of the Reading Phillies' games on their cable system," said Chuck Domino, general manager for the Reading Phillies. "RCN has a track record of first-class sports production, and their viewership demographics are a perfect fit for us as we continue to market ourselves as a regional attraction."

In addition to the television airings, all live games will be shown at readingphillies.com. Internet telecasts are made possible thanks to Major League Baseball Advanced Media and minorleaguebaseball.com.
