Renegades add Chili Davis wrap to menu

June 9, 2008
FISHKILL, N.Y. -- Usually you're asking for trouble when you utter the name Chili Davis around the Renegades own Joe Ausanio but not this summer.

Davis owned Ausanio during his playing days but now Ausanio is giving you the chance to devourer Davis for yourself with the Renegades signature wrap -- The Chili Davis. The Chili Davis is a wrap filled with chili, french fries and smothered with American cheese and can only be found at Dutchess Stadium.

The Renegades Director of Food and Beverage Joe Ausanio spent two seasons with the New York Yankees (1994 and '95). During his two years of Major League ball he worked as a set-up man dominating batters. There was one batter in particular that dominated Ausanio every time they faced off ... Chili Davis.

Davis faced off against Ausanio three times throughout his career accumulating a .667 batting average (2-for-3) with two home runs and a strikeout. Calling Davis' two hits homeruns is a little bit of an understatement; they were rockets that landed a combined 1,000 feet from home plate.

One of those two homers holds a special place in Davis' heart. On July 23rd, 1994 at Anaheim Stadium in California, in the bottom of the eighth inning with two outs Davis blasted an Ausanio offering deep into the right-field bleachers. When Davis crossed home plate it marked the 1,000th RBI of his career.

Now it's Ausanio's turn to send Davis to the bleachers. Come out to any home game this season and see if you can do what Ausanio was unable to do ... handle Chili Davis. See if you can handle a hearty helping of chili mixed with some of the best fries this side of the Mississippi drenched in some good old fashion American cheese all held together by a flour tortilla.

"Chili was one of the toughest outs I faced in my entire career," said Ausanio. "In my opinion Chili was probably one of the most under-rated players in the Major Leagues, past and present. I had the opportunity to meet Chili after I gave up his 1,000th RBI and he exudes class both on and off the field."

The Renegades are proud to bring this unbelievable wrap to Dutchess Stadium. Davis was an amazing ballplayer that made his mark not only on Ausanio but also on all of baseball. The Renegades want the name Chili Davis to live on in the Hudson Valley and what better way then through an amazing wrap created by a ballplayer that actually faced off against Davis.

This amazing Renegades signature wrap will be sold at the main concession stand located behind first base for $6.67 (Davis' batting average against Ausanio). Come out to the ballpark on Opening Day, June 17th, and see if you can handle "The Chili Davis".
