Past and future Rock Cats players on MLB.com Top 100 Prospects List
The New Britain Rock Cats Baseball Club, the Double-A Eastern League Affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, will continue to provide fans with some of the best talent in minor league baseball. Six Twins' prospects were named to MLB.com's Top 100 Prospects for the 2013 season, tied with the Red Sox, Marlins, Cardinals and Rangers for the most in baseball.
Twins' farmhands such as 3B Miguel Sano (#12), OF Byron Buxton (#19), RHP Alex Meyer (#40), RHP Kyle Gibson (#49), OF Oswaldo Arcia (#93) and OF Aaron Hicks (#98) were all among the top 100 list. Gibson pitched for the Rock Cats in 2010 and Arcia and Hicks played at New Britain last season. Meyer, who the Twins traded for OF Denard Span (Nationals) this winter, is expected to start the season with the Rock Cats. He is projected to be a number one starter in the Major Leagues. Sano and Buxton will likely begin the season in Class-A, but will have the opportunity to play in the Hardware City as they progress.
The home opener for the Rock Cats is on Thursday, April 11 (6:05) against the Boston Red Sox affiliate, the Portland Sea Dogs. Season ticket and ticket packages, including groups, ballpark suites and picnics are now available by calling the box office at 860-224-8383. Individual game tickets will go on sale at Fanfest in March.
