HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS RAINOUT BANDITS

Homestand to continue through the weekend
June 12, 2008
The Quad Cities River Bandits and the Peoria Chiefs had their series finale cancelled due to heavy thunderstorms on Thursday evening, but the homestand will continue through the weekend as scheduled at Modern Woodmen Park.

"The thunderstorms that hit this afternoon and evening made it impossible to play baseball tonight," said Vice President/General Manager Kirk Goodman. "We want to make clear to our fans that the flooding of the Mississippi River was not a factor in this decision, and the homestand will resume with a fantastic fireworks show on Friday night and last through the weekend."

The Fireworks Friday will include a Stadium Cup Giveaway sponsored by the Bettendorf Life Fitness Center. The series will continue with Flag Day on Saturday, featuring a flag giveaway as well as a live post-game concert by The Dani Lynn Howe Band - the latest installment of the River Bandits' Rockin' Saturday concert series. The homestand concludes with a U.S. Bank Family Sunday on Father's Day, including a baseball giveaway courtesy of HNI Corporation and FOX 18 as well as a Father's Day game of catch on the field brought to you by Spike TV.

Thursday's cancellation will not be made up because it was the last scheduled meeting between the River Bandits and the Chiefs this half. Quad Cities welcomes in the Beloit Snappers for a three-game weekend series starting Friday and leading into the All-Star break.

UP NEXT: The River Bandits are in the latter portion of a seven-game homestand at Modern Woodmen Park that stretches into the All-Star break. They welcome in the Beloit Snappers for a three-game set that starts with Elvis Night on a Fireworks Friday. The River Bandits will celebrate Flag Day with a flag giveaway on a Rockin' Saturday presented by Coors Light and WQAD Newschannel 8, featuring live post-game music by The Dani Lynn Howe Band. The homestand concludes on the final day of the first half with a U.S. Bank Family Sunday on Father's Day, including a baseball giveaway courtesy of HNI Corporation and Fox 18 as well as a Father's Day game of catch on the field brought to you by Spike TV. Bandit Wear featuring the new team name and logo is currently available by visiting the Modern Woodmen Park team store, and season ticket packages, mini-packages, and the popular You-Pick-10 Plan are on sale at the park or by calling (563) 3-BANDITS!
