June 16, 2008
The Williamsport Crosscutters, days away from the start of their 10th anniversary season, announced their Opening Day 2008 roster, highlighted by 13 players from the just completed 2008 draft.

Three of the top ten Philadelphia selections in the 2008 First Year Player Draft will suit up for the Cutters on Opening Day, including third round selection RHP Vance Worley from Cal State Long Beach, fifth round pick 1B Jeremy Hamilton from Wright State and INF Cody Overbeck a ninth round pick from the University of Mississippi. In all, the Phillies have assigned 13 of their 50 selections this year to Williamsport.

Six players on the opening day roster played together last season for the Gulf Coast League Phillies, including C Travis D'Arnaud who was picked 37th overall in the 2007 draft (between the 1st and 2nd rounds). D'Arnaud will have the opportunity to play professionally this season against his brother, Chase who was drafted in this year's fourth round by the Pittsburgh Pirates and will play this year in State College.

Interesting bloodlines on the Cutters include; C Scott Thomas whose father Lee played in the majors and is a former GM of the Philadelphia Phillies, RHP Mike Cisco whose grandfather Galen was a longtime major league coach, and manager Dusty Wathan whose father John played and then managed the Kansas City Royals.

The Cutters open their 10th anniversary season on the road in Mahoning Valley on Tuesday, June 17th (ESPN 1050 WLYC) with the home opener scheduled for Friday, June 20 at 7:05pm against the Jamestown Jammers.
